I'm a female wheelchair-user who employs my PAs and I'm currently looking to hire someone for two days per week to cover a year’s Maternity Leave (possibly leading to something being more permanent). The days are Sundays and Thursdays. Each shift is for 24 hours (sleeping nights) and runs from 11am - 11am the following day. The person must also be committed to being able to provide some occasional cover on other days to cover emergencies and when colleagues are on Annual Leave. Experience isn’t essential but a real desire to do the job is important. The pay for every shift is £332.40 (£13.85 per hour). Salaries are paid monthly, at the end of each month. Some medical information about me: I'm short. I have brittle bones which means I have to be handled with care. A sliding board and sheet is used for my transfers. Although I am a wheelchair-user, I am finding I spend more time sitting on my bed. Therefore nearly all my personal care takes place on the bed. The high level of personal care involved is why I prefer just females to apply.Personal information: My friends and family are extremely important to me. I am very sociable but enjoy my own space too. I am independent minded and know how I like to live my life and want my home to be (a neat and tidy flat). My interests are: Watching sport, especially football and tennis; films, comedy, music, politics, good conversation, reading, crochet, my plants and playing about on my iPad.I’m not good in the mornings but am a night-owl! Levi is an active and sporty boy, who loves Parkour, football, and tennis. He is bright and creative and enjoys the arts and cooking. He is musical too and plays the piano and guitar. Levi thrives on one-to-one interactions and responds very well to humour. He does not like demands or feeling overwhelmed. Levi has a diagnosis of mild Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) and some autistic traits, and he can experience anxiety and behaviours that may challenge if he is dysregulated.Overview of role: Days start at 1.00 pm in this busy household. The family currently employ an SEN Nanny, and the new SEN Nanny will work alongside her, so working collaboratively is a big part of this role. There is time before the children arrive home from school to plan for the evening routine, undertake domestic tasks (the family employ a cleaner) related to the children. The focus of the new SEN Nanny will be supporting Levi, however, there will be times when they will support his siblings, or all three of the children. Some days the SEN Nanny will pick Levi up from school, and other days she will be collecting his siblings. Being flexible and adaptable is essential. Facilitating positive relationships between Levi and his siblings is a key part of this role. During school holidays, the SEN Nanny will be proactive in planning engaging and stimulating activities inside and outside the home for the children to enjoy. There are meetings with Mum every Tuesday, with discussions around children’s development. Being tidy and having strong organisational skills and experience in family PA duties are essential for this role. The family uses non-declarative language and resources on sibling rivalry to encourage healthy communication and emotional expression. Familiarity with strategies like Dr. Becky’s methods or Gabor Maté’s approach would be a big plus. The family is looking for a long-term commitment of at least two years, as consistency plays a vital role in Levi’s emotional regulation and development.Who this job would suit: A calm demeanour is crucial, along with expertise in de-escalation, an understanding of the roots of challenging behaviours and dysregulation, and the confidence to set boundaries with kindness. A professional career SEN Nanny, with a great sense of humour, who is non-judgmental, and is used to working in busy households with multiple children and supporting a child with behavioural needs. This role offers overtime to cover staff absences in addition to your contract shifts.Family/Client Pets: Not applicableAbout our client: Snap Care has had the pleasure of working with Axel for many years; he has recently turned 18 years old. He is at the heart of a loving and supportive family, and lives at home in Hendon with his parents. Axel is a real charmer and loves to be the centre of attention! He is very social, outgoing, and enjoys spending time with his family and peers. Music is a big passion; he loves listening to all genres; anything with a beat and rhythm! Axel has a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy, which affects all areas of his development, as a result he requires 24/7 support to meet his health, care and medical needs. He is a full-time wheelchair user, receives almost all his nutrition, fluid and medication via his PEG, may require suctioning (oral) and communicates using sounds, body language and facial expressions. Over the years, Axel’s parents have built a dedicated, dynamic, and skilled team of SEN professionals to support him 24/7. There is an opening for an experienced Waking Night Carer to join the team.Overview of role: The Waking Night Carer will complete a handover and continue Axel’s evening and bedtime routine on a 1:1 basis, supporting with his personal care, and getting him comfy and settled in bed. The Waking Night Carer will prepare his PEG feed and carry out a flush when required. Axel requires full-time attention, often due to levels of discomfort throughout the night and requires regular repositioning, soothing and reassurance. You must be confident with manual handling, as hoists are not used to reposition Axel during the night due to the significant disruption they cause to his sleep. At times, he may also want a cuddle on the powered carer’s chair next to his bed, and small sips of water. Please note: Axel is 38kg, professional manual handling training provided to ensure you are confident in your ability to support Axel with moving and repositioning. A comfy, specialist chair is provided whilst on shift, with access to tea/coffee facilities and snacks. You will be in Axel’s bedroom throughout the night, tending to his needs as and when required. It is generally a very active waking night shift, although, if Axel is asleep, and all reports are completed, you are welcome to study / read etc.Who this job would suit: A calm, patient, dedicated, and caring Waking Night Carer with excellent communication skills. You must have a genuine passion for supporting others; this will be your vocation. Axel needs his Waking Night Carer to be empathic and intuitive. You will enjoy working in a family setting, within a team, and be a team player. The Waking Night Carer must be available for a minimum of 1 shift each week, as continuity of care is paramount. What’s great about this job: Axel will captivate your heart; he is a joy to support and work with. The working environment is positive and friendly, and you will be well supported in your role, and respected. Axel’s parents will invest in training to ensure you have all the skills required and feel confident in your ability. This role come highly recommended by previous and current Snap Care team members – an opportunity not to be missed.Who is recruiting for this role? Our client is using our Shortlist Service. Central London, London WC2N 5DU, UK
Are you a female who likes supporting/assisting others, has a good sense of humour, is flexible but organised too? The high level of personal care involved is why I prefer just females to apply.Personal information: My friends and family are extremely important to me. I dislike: Reality tv and Techno music. I love: the first cup of tea of the day and watching my football team Spurs beat the Arsenal!I will also accept applications from people who might be willing to be available just for cover but it’s important I fill the above vacancy as soon as possible.TO APPLY FOR THE POSITION AND RECEIVE A FULL JOB DESCRIPTION, THEN PLEASE:Provide an up-to-date CV (no photos necessary). Have a high standard of English. Please say why you feel you want to work for me. Confirm you have a National Insurance number and have had a DBS (police check) within the past 12 months.
