Description

The Social Work Assistant supports social workers in delivering services to individuals, families, and communities. This role involves administrative tasks, direct client support, and assisting with case management to ensure the well-being and improved quality of life for clients.Key Responsibilities:1. *Client Support:*- Assist social workers in assessing clients' needs and developing support plans.- Provide practical support to clients, such as helping with paperwork, accessing services, and attending appointments.- Offer emotional support and guidance to clients in need.2. *Case Management Assistance:*- Help maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and records.- Assist in monitoring clients' progress and updating care plans as needed.- Coordinate with other service providers and agencies to ensure comprehensive care.3. *Administrative Duties:*- Handle telephone and in-person inquiries, providing information and assistance as appropriate.- Schedule appointments and manage the social worker’s calendar.- Prepare reports, letters, and other documentation required for case management.4. *Resource Coordination:*- Assist clients in accessing community resources and services, such as housing, healthcare, and financial assistance.- Maintain an up-to-date directory of local services and resources.- Liaise with other organizations and service providers on behalf of clients.5. *Home Visits and Outreach:*- Accompany social workers on home visits to clients.- Conduct follow-up visits and welfare checks as directed by the social worker.- Assist in community outreach programs and activities to engage and support vulnerable populations.6. *Training and Development:*- Participate in training sessions and continuing education opportunities.- Stay informed about social work best practices and community resources.- Assist in the training and orientation of new staff and volunteers.7. *Team Collaboration:*- Work collaboratively with social workers, other assistants, and professionals to deliver high-quality support services.- Participate in team meetings and contribute to case discussions and planning.- Provide support and assistance to colleagues as needed.Qualifications:- *Education:*- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.- Further education or training in social work, psychology, or a related field is advantageous.- *Experience:*- Previous experience in a social care, support worker, or administrative role is desirable.Skills and Abilities:- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.- Empathy and the ability to work with vulnerable and diverse populations.- Organizational skills and attention to detail.- Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with electronic record-keeping.- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.Working Conditions:- Varied shifts, including some evenings and weekends, may be required.- Work in a variety of settings, including office environments, clients' homes, and community locations.- Exposure to emotionally challenging situations.Physical Requirements:- Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and physical stamina.- Capability to conduct home visits and community outreach activities, which may involve walking and standing for extended periods.Personal Attributes:- Compassionate and patient-focused approach.- Reliable and punctual.- Proactive and willing to take initiative.- Strong sense of responsibility and professionalism.£17 per hourPLEASE SEND IN YOUR CV/RESUME OR CONTACT DETAILS
